In England, cervical screening invitations for those aged 25-49 will be issued every 5 years instead of 3 if the HPV test is negative. This change, effective from July 2025, aligns with major clinical evidence showing that women testing negative for HPV have a very low risk of cervical cancer over the next 10 years, according to NHS England. Those aged 50-64 are already invited every 5 years.
