Depo-Provera Injections
We have made changes to our process for administering Depo-Provera injections.
Please read the following information carefully to ensure you’re prepared for your next appointment:
New Procedure
Requesting A Prescription
Before your scheduled appointment, please contact our surgery to request a prescription for Depo-Provera.
Collecting From Pharmacy
Once your prescription is ready, collect your Depo-Provera injection from your local pharmacy.
Bring To The Appointment
On the day of your appointment, bring the Depo-Provera injection with you to the surgery.
Important Notes
- We no longer stock Depo-Provera at the surgery, so it’s crucial to follow this new process.
- Remember that Depo-Provera injections are typically given every 12 weeks (84 days) for effective contraception.
- If you’re more than 14 weeks from your last injection, you may need a pregnancy test before your next shot
Timing Reminders
- For your first injection, it’s best to receive it within the first 5 days of your menstrual cycle.
- If you’ve recently given birth and are not breastfeeding, the injection can be given within 5 days postpartum.
We appreciate your cooperation with this new process. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the surgery.
